What's New:

Improvements:

  • Layer List, thumbnail: Clicking with Alt creates an intersection with the existing mask.
  • Layer List: Groups with “Pass Through”; for other blending modes, “Encapsulated Drawing” is set automatically.
  • Layer List, thumbnails of transparent layers: There are various options for displaying transparency.
  • Layer List, search: “&linecolor” and “&fillcolor” now also search in text layers.
  • Layer List, search: “&color” searches for line and fill color.
  • Layer Attributes: “Normal” layers with visible children can now be drawn isolated.
  • Layer Attributes, channel settings: Alt+click for the usual toggle behavior.
  • PDF import: Changes to improve recognition of fonts with incorrect names.
  • PDF import: Annotations with AppearanceStream are loaded.
  • SVG import, images: Now also reads images that are not embedded.
  • TIFF import: Better handling of defective gamut data.
  • AVIF export: Can now also save animations.
  • Lighten/Darken tool: Now have separate presets.
  • Gradient action: The “In active layer” status can now be changed by editing the action.
  • Settings, Windows: “Extended > Language” now displays the available languages in a drop-down list.
  • Settings: “Extended > Font replacement list” now has slash names instead of buttons for bold and italic.
  • Layer > Merge Layers”: Applies the name of the active layer or the lowest layers with a name.
  • “Edit > Paste,” Vector, Windows: SVG and PDF are now preferred for pasting in Windows.
  • “Edit > Image,” Image: Similar to vector, PNG and TIFF data are preferred for pasting.
  • Curve editor, undo: The curve editor supports undo.
  • Docked dialogs: If a dialog that is too large is docked, its size is reduced accordingly.
  • Text input, Windows: Improved input with, for example, the Japanese IME.
  • macOS 26: Finder shows previews for PLD files in icon mode.
  • Scripting: New operation “Change Channels”.
  • Scripting: New operation “Convert”.
  • Scripting, Windows: “Alert” no longer requires a button. “OK” is used instead.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fonts: Old Windows names (e.g., “Arial Black”) were not found correctly.
  • Layer List, groups with ajustment layers, color profiles: The thumbnail could be incorrect for groups with adjustment layers and color profiles.
  • Page List: The thumbnail could disappear after changing its size.
  • Scripting, macOS: Pages could not be deleted.
  • Layer tool, Lasso: If there was a Lasso, the document was marked as changed when the mouse was moved.
  • Vector Lasso: When hiding the Lasso, handles outside the Lasso area were not erased.
  • “Edit Vector Points” tool, vector with gradient: The gradient editor was displayed in the document even when the handles were turned off.
  • Liquify, Warp subtool: Edge artifacts appeared when painting upwards out of the image.
  • Quick Selection: Mouse pointer and brush display improved.
  • Partial Transparency tool: Now uses the paint mouse pointer instead of a cross.
  • Measurement tool: When clicking and dragging, “Setup scale” was not handled correctly.
  • Image tools, Merged Copy or Source set to Active Layer: If there was an adjustment layer with a border (blur, liquify, etc.) before the active layer, the result could be incorrect.
  • Clone Brush, Tool Preview: If the source was not the active layer, the preview did not work if the layer had a layer mask or an adjustment.
  • Curves, Painting tool: After using Curves, the mouse pointer of the painting tool was no longer correct.
  • Icons, macOS: Icons with fixed scaling were sometimes upscaled under Retina.
  • macOS, multi-monitor: When maximized, document windows were sometimes maximized on the wrong monitor.
  • Gradient editor in dialogs, Windows: Clicking in the color bar displayed a drop-down dialog instead of selecting a color/gamma or creating a new color.
  • Line style editor, drop-down version: Creating multiple line segments closed the drop-down dialog.
  • PDF export, path text with background effects: Problems could occur during export.
  • PDF import: Text generation improved.
  • TIFF import: Tiled images are read better.
  • AVIF export: Gray images were not saved correctly.
  • (Simple) Browse, recent files: An outdated thumbnail could be displayed.
  • Docked dialogs: If a hidden dialog was displayed again in a miniaturized tab window, a crash occurred.
  • Isolated groups, path effects/distort: Layer masks were ignored when path effects were applied to the isolated group.
  • "Morph Marked Vector Layers": If a morph was created in the opposite direction to an existing morph, a crash occurred.
  • Embedded placeholders, external program: Embedded placeholders were converted to file placeholders when edited in an external program.
  • Preferences: After making a change in the Preferences dialog, the drop-down list selection was incorrect.
  • Focus frames around custom text fields, macOS 26: Focus frames ware displayed incorrectly.
  • Screen, resolution change (including hibernation at certain resolutions), macOS: Improved behavior with docked dialogs.
  • Gray image with grouped adjustment layer and layer effects: The adjustment sometimes worked in RGB mode, even though grouped adjustments by definition work in the color model of the parent image layer.
  • Color Editor, vector pattern: After changing the pattern size, the visible section could jump.
  • Vector layers, curve, fill: Curves consisting of two points that formed a rectangle together with its control points were filled as rectangles.
  • Preferences > Display > Grid and Guides: If values were changed in both sub-dialogs, only one of the changes was applied.
