What's New:

This update for Parallels Desktop 16 for Mac 16.5.0 brings full native support for Mac computers with the Apple M1 chip, addresses overall stability and security issues, and includes the following fixes and improvements.

Parallels Desktop for Mac computers with the Apple M1 chip:

Issues reported by Parallels Desktop users:

  • Resolves an issue with virtual machines having no Internet connection when they are configured to use the Shared Network setting.
  • Resolves an issue with the mouse pointer moving slowly in virtual machines configured for games.
  • Resolves an issue with the mouse pointer becoming sluggish.
  • Resolves an issue with Parallels Tools sometimes hanging during the installation.
  • Resolves an issue with color noise sometimes appearing on the screen after the Parallels Tools installation.
  • Resolves an issue with green boxes in the HiP2P IP camera software.
  • Resolves an issue with an Ubuntu 21.04 virtual machine not booting after updating the kernel to 5.11.0.
  • Resolves an issue with the Installation Assistant not being able to detect an operating system when creating a Kali Linux 2020.2 or 2020.4 virtual machine.
  • Resolves an issue with Fedora Rawhide hanging during the installation.

Other:

  • On a Mac with the Apple M1 chip, download and use pre-configured virtual machines with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, Debian 10.7, Fedora Workstation 33-1.2, and Kali Linux 2021.1.
  • The 3D acceleration menu was temporarily concealed in the Graphics pane of Linux virtual machine configuration because this feature is not yet supported in Parallels Desktop for Mac computers with the Apple M1 chip.

The following settings were removed from the virtual machine configuration in Parallels Desktop for Mac computers with the Apple M1 chip:

  • The Enable nested virtualization checkbox in the CPU & Memory pane.
  • The hypervisor selection in the CPU & Memory pane. All virtual machines are set to use the Apple hypervisor.
  • The Floppy Disk pane.

Parallels Desktop for Mac computers with an Intel processor:

  • Support for Linux kernel version 5.11.
  • Resolves an issue with failing to start a Boot Camp-based virtual machine and showing the "A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed." error message.
  • Resolves an issue with incorrect identification of a virtual machine operating in the Bridged Networking mode.
  • Resolves an issue with the Internet Information Services application showing an error when used in Parallels Desktop 16.
  • Resolves an issue with no Internet connection in virtual machines when the MTU (maximum transmission unit) is changed to 9000 in the macOS network preferences.
  • Resolves an issue with the Parallels file system returning unknown d_type.
  • Resolves an issue with Parallels Desktop for Mac Business Edition asking to allow system extensions on start.
  • Resolves an issue with not being able to deploy Parallels Desktop for Mac Business Edition via JAMF and showing the "launch path not accessible" error message.

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine (Image path)
Then mount and install.

I have installed it and all is ok in Mac. But in windows, Parallels Tools program shows this message:

This copy of Parallels Desktop may not be genuine. You may be a victim of software counterfeiting....

Is there any way to avoid it?

Well, I answer this question:
I have tried to uninstall completely by removing any trace of the previous version and by performing the installation steps that I wrote in the previous post, everything works perfectly.

There is a new version out (16.1 I think) that sorts out a few major bugs. Maybe Insmac.org could release that version which is more up to date!!

unfortunately I still get the message.

"Initialisierung des Netzwerkes fehlgeschlagen" - no network.

happened with the upgrade to BigSur.

does anybody has an idea how to fix this problem ??

I found the solution in the internet .....

Solution for Internet failing after upgrading to MacOS 11 (Big Sur)

1) Quit Parallels (shutdown any running VM)

2) Open terminal and type this command

sudo -b /Applications/Parallels\ Desktop.app/Contents/MacOS/prl_client_app

3) Click on open and select your VM

Hi,
I'm sorry to inform you that I have installed this version and the genuine nag problem still exists. I can't understand how it is possible for the program to detect that it is patched because all communications are closed. So I have reverted to the previous version.

Who knows how to avoid this annoying warning? I would really appreciate it.

i remove old ver. 16.0.1 and install new ver. 16.1.1 but i get same problem with this in win 10 already installed on old version so i delete it and re-install new win 10 but get network error

I found this solution for the network initialisation issue on the Parallels forum and it worked for me:

1. sudo nano /Library/Preferences/Parallels/network.desktop.xml
2. find <UseKextless>1</UseKextless> (value can be -1), and change the value to the <UseKextless>0</UseKextless>
3. if you can't to find this tag, then just create it under root tag <ParallelsNetworkConfig ...>here</ParallelsNetworkConfig>

Hello, I modified the scripts in particular for the USB everything works but I can no longer connect a CANON PIXMA MP970 which is not very young but which previously worked with the WIN 8.1 driver (64) Thank you for your suggestions and help. Cordially.

Thanks for sharing the details of your procedure. I followed them exactly, and they solved my issues. Except for the nagging "This copy of Parallels Desktop may not be genuine..." dialog box.

I have never used a hex editor, and got lost there. I installed the app and opened the file. I searched for 0x5593, but nothing came up. Can you provide more detail as to how to find and edit address 0x5593?

I have followed the guides you have reported and have solved all most of the problems. I have one left: the USB hardware keys to run some programs are not recognized. Has anyone solved it?
