Rule the realm before the battle begins
In Three Kingdoms Classic, victory is shaped by more than armies. Govern cities, appoint the right officers, secure your supply lines, and use diplomacy to change the balance of power. Lead a historical faction toward unification—or create a new story of your own.
Every battlefield calls for a different plan
Besiege cities, maneuver across mountain passes, command formations on land, or direct naval engagements. Consider terrain, weather, morale, force composition, and your officers’ specialties. A fire attack can shift the tide—or turn against you if you misread the wind.
- Sieges: Test walls and gates with siege engines, or pressure the city through encirclement.
- Field battles: Use formations, maneuver, and officer matchups to find an opening.
- Mountain warfare: Contest high ground while protecting the supply lines that keep your forces moving.
- Naval battles: Plan fleet deployment, movement, and attacks with command cards, then see both sides’ orders resolve at once.
- Risky routes: Use paths such as Ziwu Valley and the Yinping Trail to attempt a surprise attack—but weigh the danger of losing troops or being discovered.
Build a faction that can endure
Assign officers according to their abilities, specialties, temperament, loyalty, and relationships. Let warriors lead breakthroughs, strategists devise schemes, and administrators manage cities. Learn about historical officers through their biographies, then reward their service with offices and noble titles.
Manage population, public order, the economy, and agriculture. Develop civil and military capabilities through research, and send supplies and reinforcements to distant fronts. Stabilize conquered cities and turn your rear areas into lasting support for the army.
Change the balance beyond the battlefield
Use truces, alliances, joint invasions, aid, recruitment, prisoner negotiations, surrender, and submission to shape your position. You can also stir up conflict between rival factions. Build relations with frontier peoples or launch expeditions, balancing the possible rewards against the risks to your forces.
Make history—or take it somewhere new
Play through eras from the coalition against Dong Zhuo to the fall of Shu Han, each with its own balance of power, officers, and historical events. Choose campaign settings such as historical events, officer lifespans, and death in battle to shape your experience.
Create officers with custom abilities, specialties, portraits, and relationships. Found a faction, adjust placements and resources across the game’s 62 cities, and use Scenario Studio to build events, dialogue, objectives, and custom endings. Share officer packs and scenarios as ZIP files, or explore content created by other players.
